Palazzo Strozzi in Florence hosts a major exhibition devoted to the work of Chinese contemporary artist Liu Xiaodong, known for his large-scale works interpreting modern life.

The exhibition called Migrations showcases a selection of paintings, drawings and photographs made by the artist in Tuscany, portraying the cities of Florence and Prato and the Sienese countryside, with a particular focus on the local Chinese communities.

Liu Xiaodong was born in 1963 in Jincheng, in the north-eastern province of Liaoning, China. He lives and works in Beijing but has worked on projects around the world, including Tibet, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, Cuba and Austria.
