The exhibition Tempo Reale e Tempo della Realtà (Real Time and Time of Reality) at the Pitti Palace Gallery Of Modern Art in Florence displays a selection of 80 clocks from the museum’s own collection.
The clocks witnessed the passing of the days of those who lived in the royal palace between the 18th and 19th century. They were selected for this exhibition for their extraordinary quality, both from a technical and artistical the point of view.
The instruments consist of two parts: the mechanism, often sophisticated and complex, and the case, established to protect the sensitive content, but which eventually turned into works of art in their own right.
